Introduction Integrative Mental Health: depression & anxiety

Course objectives:

  1. Discuss the prevalence and impact of mental illness on individuals and public health.
  2. Identify characteristics of depression and anxiety disorders in children and adults.
  3. Identify five lifestyle factors that can affect wellbeing and mental health.
  4. Evaluate the evidence for integrative health and lifestyle approaches to promote mental health and overall wellbeing and apply this information in case based learning.
  5. Assess the evidence for the safety and benefit of complementary and alternative medicine approaches/practices in the treatment of mood disorders.
  6. Demonstrate understanding of integrative health approaches such as dietary supplements and mind-body medicine in a variety of patients with anxiety and depression.
  7. Recognize and list at least two appropriate referral patterns for at-risk patients to mental health experts.
